    Terms of use

Use of all of FatFractal's products and services is subject to our Terms of Use. Use of the sandbox is free (subject to the limits outlined above). However sandbox is not recommended for production apps:
  • 1. All sandbox apps share a fixed pool of resources (CPU, memory). If many sandbox apps happen to be under simultaneous heavy load then there will be some performance degradation.
    • In contrast, our production environment auto-scales to cope with whatever load it is receiving.
  • 2. Sandbox apps which are relatively inactive will sometimes be 'quiesced' (unloaded from memory). When requests come in for a quiesced app, there will be a delay of typically between 0.5 and 5 seconds while the app is spun up again.
    • In contrast, apps in paid subscriptions are never quiesced.
  • 3. Only one instance of your app will be running in the sandbox environment. When we do software releases (usually several times per week, sometimes more often) then a given sandbox app may be unavailable for up to 30 seconds.
    • In contrast, apps in paid subscriptions are highly available - i.e. there will always be at least two instances of an app running, on different machines.
